TEHRAN – A gas circuit breaker aimed at facilitating electricity supply to regional electricity units across the country was designed and built by Iranian researchers, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Tuesday.
The device, installed at the main electricity posts or poles, holds nominal voltage and current of 24 kilovolts and 630 amps respectively. It is of SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) type, capable of switching on or off nominal network circuit automatically when required.
Mass production of this gear would save the nation $4m annually in Forex by excluding similar imported types. The device was built at R&D Center of Zanjan Pars Switch Company, and has passed all the standard tests performed upon at Italy’s CESI Lab.
